Prebiotics and Immune system

Prebiotics are a type of dietary fibers that can help stimulate the growth of healthy bacteria in your gut. They are what typically feeds the probiotics in the intestinal system and together they work to promote a healthy gut and immune system

Conventional prebiotics have been added to a number of foods for fiber fortification.  They include oligosaccharides such as FOS, GOS and inulin. The latter is a common addition to foods for a higher dietary fiber claim on the nutritional label.

Recently there are studies on what are called ‘emerging’ prebiotics which also includes Pectic oligosaccharides – POS.

The fiber in LENTEIN® includes both soluble and insoluble fibers. The insoluble fiber consists of mostly Pectin and is around 20% of the total fiber content. Pectin is mostly found in apples, oranges and other citrus foods but it also makes up around 20% of the fiber in our water lentils.

Our gut has recently been described as vital for immune systems and the mystery of prebiotics is only just beginning to unfold, but we can safely say that including some prebiotics in your foods seem to help!
